Wouldn’t
You Someday…
Wouldn’t
you someday like to know where I am Wouldn’t
you someday like to know what I’ve done with my life Wouldn’t
you someday like to know how often you’ve crossed my mind Wouldn’t
you someday like to know if I walked down the aisle Taken
another woman to be my wife Wouldn’t
you someday like to know if I had a child He
or she could’ve been yours and mine Wouldn’t
you someday like to look me in the eye Or
at least pick up the phone to apologize For
all those years I’ve wondered why Turned
my hurt and pain into words of poetry Written
hundreds of poems about how deeply you hurt me Wouldn’t
you someday just look me up I’ve
long ago forgiven you for breaking my heart Wouldn’t
you someday… Well,
that day might never come. (1:21 in the pm…1-4-98)
