God By My Side…
This morning I
awoke with God by my side Took a deep
breath of sunshine Life never
smelled this good before With God as my
eyes everything looks better My conscience
is clear, my spirit is free I’m breathing
clean air and my mind is at peace All my life
I’ve been in search of this, a feeling of Nirvana A feeling, a
sense of wholeness, of being one with God A feeling of
who I am and being at peace with that thought The road
traveled has been a lonesome one, Littered with
inner turmoil Days and nights
rolled into one, The only that
kept me going was the love of my son And now here I
am with the heavenly father Enjoying the
sights and sounds of nature On the wings of
God a bird flies above Gliding so
gracefully, so effortlessly, suspended in air And I am awed
by this display of something indefinable Yet so
majestically beautiful Of how nature
takes on a life of its own…and I am blown away All around me,
I see the hand of God in all his beautiful creations In the middle
of the city, nature in harmony In accord with
the will of God If only
nature’s counterpart could learn this simple lesson of love Here we are,
today, still divided by the issue of color What does it
matter, who’s black or white We should all
be judged by the love in our hearts By the
integrity of our words Our compassion
for the misfortune Here we are
consumed by frivolous matters If we paused
for a moment see ourselves as God’s children Embrace each
other with compassion Gaze upon each
other simply as sister, brother-simply human In that moment
of spiritual awakening There could be
a dawning of a new age It all sounds
good in theory but is it applicable? To the likes of
you and me The future of
humanity rests on the shoulders of Generation Next With God at my
side, Momentarily I
put these earthly worries aside A sunset so
beautiful mere words won’t suffice To capture its
splendid beauty Somewhere out
there, in this vast universe we call Earth I take comfort
in knowing my eyes aren’t the only eyes Enjoying
God’s latest work Everyday that
we live, take time out to see beauty in our surroundings A moment of
beauty should be revered, A memory
treasured for eternity With God at my
side, I can finally see the light. 8-3-97
