When your child breaks your heart

When your child breaks your heart
You question the very existence of who you are
Everything you’ve taught them to be
Lessons of right and wrong of decency
Somewhere along the line there is a disconnect
Between action and consequence
And this once innocent child
Stands before you seemingly a stranger
A man child but still a child in need of guidance
And for once the father is lost
He too is in search of answers
There is no daddy to show him the way
The future of this child is in his hands.
