When We Leave This Earth

Beyond this temporary existence

You will find the true meaning

Of why we walk this earth

It’s not to inflict hurt

We’re here to touch each other with love

Love felt for even a minute

Will remembered for a lifetime

Hurt, though sometimes unintentional

Will be remembered for the same time

I’ve been touched by both in my life

And I’m a better man for both experiences

But for every time I’ve had to say those words

I search for words of comfort

There is none to be found

For the nature of broken hearts is to hurt

And all you can do is watch

As your heart is breaking too

There are too many broken hearts

In the world tonight

I wish her heart was one less in pain

I’ve been on the other end and I know how it feels

There’s nothing I can do now

I hope she doesn’t hate me forever

If she does…how could I even blame her.
