The
Highway…
Has
the thought ever occurred to you? When
you’re alone in all your privacy That
just maybe life is speeding by Every
once in a while you change lanes but you can’t change speeds Seemingly
stuck in neutral used to be so easy Shifting
into overdrive But
now the mere effort just to visualize What
you once took for granted is tasking to your brain Not
even 100mg of advilbayertylenol can ease the pain Somewhere
up ahead in the aftermaths Of
a thunderous downpour of rain Lies
a blood soaked corpse, which is hauntingly familiar As
you slowly drive by you catch a glance Through
your fogged up window Of
life in all its mortality, in all its inevitability And
you find yourself wondering The
deceased as he’s come to be known All
the potential shown so long ago as a child Did
ever bloom to full fruition or did something hinder Toss
it asunder, leaving it dormant, deprived of light Even
a God given talent can shrivel up and die As
his spirit leaves him, taking flight from this existence Did
the life he led make any difference? And
in the end, that’s all that really matters That
along the way, the road we travel We
stop and listen to the voice within We
somehow manage to touch someone’s heart with love And
even though… We
may never truly know the affect we’ve had A
moment of kindness creates a lifelong memory. 8:08
