Strange Ingredient…

The indefinable ingredient that makes love

A specialty when it’s tasted for the first time

Leaves most souls in a state of desperate confusion

They are not themselves when love takes hold

A stranger has taken control

And we wonder what’s wrong with us

Nothing at all, it’s just love coming for a visit

We find ourselves doing strange things for attention

We know it’s wrong but we can’t help ourselves

Only after the act do we regret our actions

We regret not what we did, only that we got caught

Love isn’t for everyone

And not because your heart has fallen

Means that his will too

Even if you think you’re the woman of his dreams

But you’re not the woman of his

And it’s just so hard to walk away when you believe

Your heart speaks the truth

But belief isn’t always truth

Love isn’t always welcomed

Hearts will always be broken

It’s just the tragedy of unrequited love

But then when you turn the mirror around there is sunshine

Love being embraced by two lonely hearts

Is a beautiful thing to watch in bloom

Slowly you can see the shift from apprehension to welcome

From caution to that full blown smile

She’s in love, he’s in love

They wonder why everyone isn’t in love

It ain’t that easy to find and when you do

Hold on to it my friends

Nurture it, give it room to grow

Cause a stifled love is a dying love

Love only stays as long as it’s appreciated

Love is like a child, it needs constant attention

The minute you look away and think it’s safe

Is the last minute you will have your love

Danger lurks around every corner

Be vigil my friends

Love on your own terms

Love without respect is empty

And we all need to be filled with a love of self

Before we can love anyone else.
