Melancholy Girl…

In between her words

The melancholy smile she sometimes wears

Her hurt is felt and the life she’s led

The mistakes she's made play in her mind

Like a bad movie that will never end

Times like these if I were able to console her

Let her know that life will get better

That God loves her and hasn’t forgotten

The forgotten ones seemingly have no reason

To hold on to faith, to believe in the illusion of a higher power

But in them, I often see a belief that the possibility exists

That with the dawning of a new day God will bless them

With his mercy and love so they wait

All around the world they wait for this God

The God of all things, the rescuer of dreams and the downtrodden

God the superhero will fly in any minute to save the day

Still they wait.

(The genesis of this is the conflicting values I have followed. You believe in your heart the lessons you’ve learned taught to you by your mother, but then, you observe everyday life and you see the suffering of people who are undeserved of pain. But truly, who deserves pain?)
