how do you know you’re not crazy

how do you know you’re not losing your mind…

how do you know you’re not crazy

how do you know you’re not losing your mind

when all you do is cry so much of the time

don’t you think that sometimes maybe

you could snap and never be heard from again

they’ll look at you with pity and say he’s not the same

your body and mind no longer occupy the same space

life is so fragile in the blink of an eye someone could die

in the same breath someone else is giving life

it’s all really strange if you have the time to think

you never know who’s on the brink

they seem to have it all in control

but no one knows the demons that haunt the soul

look at the human sitting to your right

look at the human sitting to your left

if you knew what I know about them

the unspeakable horrors they commit

and so proudly they sit

they’ve pulled the wool over our eyes

their aura is pulsating from lies

how do you you’re not crazy

how do you know you’re not losing your mind

everyday something happens it just boggles the imagination

the inhumanities we’re capable of perpetrating

a two year old child is brutalized to death

by the human who’s her father

he’s supposed to be her protector

how could this human kill his own daughter

how did this human child become such a monster

there aren’t any answers anymore, just problems

and no means to solve them

when is the inevitable end?

Enough of this suspense.

(9-24-96 once upon a time, the state of the world used to consume me and I would worry about everything. Now, I don’t write these sort of pieces anymore. I guess I concentrate on more of what I can actually make an impact on.)
