Flight
of Fancy…
What
we now know to be More than a mere flight of fancy A
thought so evoking A
touch that revives the heart With
nothing more than a touch of her hands She
brings meaning to the moment In
her, you see everything your life should be In
her, you see the dream of family. Written for Michelle Brandy and Amy Archibald on 5/24/2003 my two friends who possess all the qualities of what a good woman should be: strong, compassionate, smart, assertive, and quite pleasing to the eye, of course. The
muse has returned, once languid it blooms in the presence of grace. For how long
have I stayed quiet, unaware she is of how it pains me to breathe in her space
when every breath is like shattering glass to my heart.
She knows not how often she haunts my dreams, her every smile, her every
word clings to me and I’m unable to shake its power. True romantics of
centuries past, I feel your pain even in death.
Is it only then that it stops? Or
does love live on in the dreams you left behind, in the conversations you had,
in the lonely winter nights when only the thought of her could keep you warm or
does it wait for another vessel to give its spirit to?
