Being Yourself
I will pretend not to cry
You will pretend not to see
Allow me the privacy
To be myself just for this moment
No pretenses or facades, just plain ole me
You will read my eyes and sense my need
I won’t ask of you what you already know
Extend your kindness and your shoulder
Words aren’t needed for comfort
They would be insufficient at best
Let the silence heal us
When nothing else will.
