Beautiful Solitude
Took a stroll
through the park in the middle of the day Just like we
used to so long ago together You used to
love how we had it all to ourselves Beautiful
Solitude is what you called it As we walked
hand in hand just passing time Every once in a
while the silence would be broken By the outside
world trying to steal a moment Of our
Beautiful Solitude… But these
stolen moments belonged to just you and me And now, as I
retrace the path we walked so many times before I swear I hear
your voice but it’s only the cold air Whistling past
my ear Our favorite
spot under the sad willow tree is just up ahead Its branches
are now bare, lying there limp and lifeless Just waiting,
like me, for you to appear and bring us back to life I could wait
here forever if there was a chance I would see you
again The day you
left as you walked away in my heart I knew This would be
the last time We would share
our Beautiful Solitude Its been years
since we went our separate ways We’ve grown
apart, a note here or there The occasional
Christmas card I’ll always
remember you as the girl who first won my heart. 1-20-98 10:33
