An
Old Couple A
couple sits in silence Words
aren’t needed anymore To
express a lifetime of affection He
sweetens her tea With
the right blend of milk and honey She
makes his coffee just how he likes it Three
sugars, no cream She
is only the cream he has ever needed They
blend together like black and white folding into gray Like
the remnants of sunlight turning into dusk She
is the love of his life Still,
to his day, he will always say She’s
the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on Jéan-Pierre, Dean Copyright
