A friend mentioned her mom’s cat and a memory came back to me. Back in St. Croix when I was in high school my mom had this beautiful Persian cat, Bonkers. Yes, Bonkers. Bonkers was so beautiful she was always scared he would run away. So during the day she would tie him on the balcony until we came home from school. I guess Bonkers got depressed and tired of being tied and not free to run around with cat buddies chasing whatever it is they case. One day we came home to find that Bonkers had hung himself from the balcony. Bonkers was now in peace. Go figure, a cat named Bonkers committing suicide.

In my mind there's nothing more satisfying than seeing an old black man who's been through it all in American, smile and be happy. I ventured into the local Jamaican store to get some stew chicken, rice and peas and vegetables. It's just a little hole in the wall, but the food is good. Anyway, the music is blasting and the old guy about 70 is serving food and he's happy. His face radiates joy as if to say, life is good, let the music play on. Being me I want to ask him why he's so happy, please tell me your secret. But I think better of it. You shouldn't ask someone why they're happy-it's a right and shouldn't be an inquisition. Got my food and headed home.

If you’ve never watched “24” starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer super agent you surely haven’t enjoyed the best of the TV experience. The show is about Jack’s seemingly one man quest to keep terrorism at bay. He works for CTU and whatever it takes to get the job done, Jack will surely do.  This is season 5 and we find Jack just as tormented as ever-fucking beautiful.  There’s something to be said about seeing one man going up against the odds and always finding a way to come through. When Jack gives you his word-you can take it to the bank. Fox 9pm on Mondays.
